We are delighted to announce that Lucy Hunter of our Clarriots Care Lincolnshire North office has won the “Care Leadership Award” at the Lincolnshire Care Awards 2017. We are delighted for Lucy and proud that our hard work and commitment has been recognised at these prestigious awards.
Lucy has now been with Clarriots for two years and has made a big impact in that time with her views on how everyone in the social care sector can contribute to its ongoing improvement. A truly inspirational staff member Lucy has “Braved The Shave” for Macmillan Cancer research and is a regular spokeswoman here at Clarriots and in her spare time for the organisation Dementia Friends.
In a recent interview Lucy told us, it was her personal experience that first inspired her interest in a caring career:
“My experience started when my grandad became ill. He quickly deteriorated with cancer and I provided support to my family members that cared for him, I remember wishing I could do more to help. This experience prompted me to apply for a part time Care Assistant job when I was able to and I found myself settling in very quickly and loving meeting new people and making a difference to their everyday lives.”
These experiences then lead her to find the company Clarriots which would positively challenger her to strive forward and inspire others. Within her time here at Clarriots Lucy clearly made a great impact in her role, as from applying she was promoted to Team Leader after six months and then training to become a Care Coordinator a further six months later, a position that she held for the next year.
“I realised that even though I loved the care sector, I needed to show the same enthusiasm and push for change for the social care sector to continue to evolve and thrive. It was this outlook that encouraged me to consider the Care Coordinator vacancy when it was advertised by Clarriots and after some research into the company, I decided to apply.”
Lucy would then go into a Supervisor role within Clarriots truly showing her dedication to the care sector with the amount she has achieved in the 2 years she has been here with our Family orientated company.
Here’s what Lucy had to say about being winning the ‘Care Leadership’ award:“It truly was a mind-blowing experience, I couldn’t quite believe I had won at first with the competition I was up against, but I am truly grateful for this fantastic honour.”
“I like to think that I perform my job to a high standard and contribute to the social care sector the best I can and to win an award for the job that you do really does give you the knowledge and understanding that what you do does make a difference, and this will continue to inspire me to do the best job I can.”
Everyone at Clarriots Care would like to congratulate Lucy on this fantastic achievement, we’re very proud of her achievement and we look forward to the future as we know she will continue to inspire greatness throughout the health and social care sector.
